Background

G9 was formed in January 2005 and has grown quickly to become a highly successful business networking group. We welcome business people from all over Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

When and where do we meet?

G9 meets meets twice a month on a Friday morning at the Novotel, Stevenage, Herts. The meeting officially starts at 06.45 and is normally finished by 08.00. Members start arriving from 06.30 for coffee and the opportunity to network with other members and visitors.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant after the main part of the meeting has finished. This offers an excellent opportunity to network with the members and guests and means that the meeting is not distracted with people serving food or the constant clanking of cutlery.

Does the meeting follow a regular format?

Every meeting is attended by a deliberate mix of members and guests, so as a member you will always have an opportunity to meet someone new.

We try to restrict the numbers at each meeting to between 30 and 35 people. This ensures that the meeting is lively and gives ample time for members and guests to promote their products and services. We allow time for questions, which makes for a lively and interactive session.

The format has proven to work and ensures the most productive use of the available time. The focus is on networking.

What are the membership rules?

Only one person from each profession or business classification is permitted to join. Members must represent their primary occupation, not a part-time business. Check the members page to see if there is a potential conflict.

You have to attend at least three meetings as a guest before you can apply to join the group. We also have different levels of membership depending upon your ability to attend meetings and whether you are a member of another networking group.

We expect a 75% attendance rate over a four month period. There is no requirement to send a substitute. Members are encouraged to bring guests.

Our aim is to develop high quality business referrals for members but we do not go through a weekly farce of passing slips of paper around. By selecting our members carefully we ensure that we have a professional and supportive environment which leads to profitable business for all.

Can I see G9 in operation?

You can attend three meetings as a guest to see G9 in operation, meet the members and decide whether membership is right for you. If you would like to attend a meeting as a guest then please complete the feedback form.

Is there an annual fee?

G9 is a not-for-profit organisation. There are no annual fees, nor is there a management team looking to make money out of the group. G9 exists solely for the benefit of its members.

There is a £15 meeting charge to cover the cost refreshments and breakfast.

For business networking in Hertfordshire, you should try G9. Why not attend our next meeting as a guest?
